HANDOSCOPIC-ASSISTED LEFT LATERAL SEGMENTECTOMY FOR HEPATOLITHIASIS IN RECURRENT PYOGENIC CHOLANGITIS

Dr. C. N. Tang
Department of Surgery, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, Hong Kong

Left lateral segmentectomy is the standard treatment for patients suffering from recurrent pyogenic cholangitis with stones in atrophic left lateral segment of liver. The trauma of access can be minimized with handport-assisted approach. The hand introduced at right iliac fossa can allow mobilization, control of bleeding, prevention of air embolization and retrieval of resected specimen.
